Suspicions
of the island grew, as more and more people traded with
the island, and people landing on the island was not permitted
to explore. The people of the island, known as Santuarians,
did not want to share the rich secret of the island, in
fear of a war or invasion from other countries to claim
it as their own. Security was established, along with several
island 'hot spots' that allowed visitors to look around
and enjoy the tropical setting of the island. Port Recurso
was constructed on the southeastern side of the island,
to welcome people that arrived for a visit. The Santuarians
of Port Recurso's main job was to keep the visitor's attention
away from the secret of the island at whatever cost.
Around
1986, Port Recurso had a well established hotel, beach club,
swimming area, tennis courts and restaurants. Another town,
by the name of Cala Privada was constructed on the southwestern
side of the island. It offered a more private retreat from
the island's every day life. A rather large town, named
Compra de Ciudad, or Shopping Town, was established for
the visitors that wanted to spend their riches and buy the
many items the island had to offer.
