What is a MUD?

MUD stands for Multi User Dungeon and is a computer program which users can log into and explore. Each user takes control of a computerized persona character. You can walk around, chat with other characters, explore dangerous monster-infested areas, solve puzzles, and even create your very own rooms, descriptions and items. MUDs can range in all sorts of different catagories. Some are strictly Role Playing (RP), some are Player Killing (PK), and some are NonPlayer Killing (NPK). People connect/log on to a MUD using a "client" and create a character that they will play in the MUD.

What is a client?

Clients are programs that connect to the MUD. There are many different types of clients out there that people can choose from. Some are free and some are not. Some have more features than others and some are just regular black and white where others use color options and different other bonus features. You can find a few ways to connect to our MUD by clicking the PLAY button. I suggest trying out a few of them and reading the documentation that comes with the software.

Im connected! Now what?

Now that you have got connected, you first need to find out what it takes to create your character that you will become inside of the MUD. Some MUDs allow online creation that you can do without any trouble, some allow an email request and some make you wait for an approval before you can join the MUDs world. Which ever the case may be, take your time and be patient.
